Our second winter in Alaska has been even more freezing than the first!! We've had snow on the ground for months now and have had many days of single digit and subzero temperatures...Brrrr!! This one was taken around 11am and look the sun is finally up!
The cold does make for some pretty pictures though...we never get tired of taking pictures of our backyard woods.
This thermometer sits outside our kitchen/backyard window. As you can see it is frozen at ZERO. (and it usually measures a few degrees warmer than it really is)
Logan had a beautiful sunset on his birthday...too bad we didn't go out of the neighborhood to get some more pics.
Last week we had two straight days of 30-60 MPH winds. Aside from the obvious cold and the fact that the howling winds kept us up all night, it was really pretty cool. The wind polished all the snow and made everything all glassy smooth (including the roads...good thing Steve doesn't have to commute to Anchorage anymore for work because we heard there were tons of cars in the ditch)

Gorgeous pics, but I can't even imagine it being that cold!
That is so pretty. I love reading about the weather there in Alaska. It is so interesting to see all of the pictures and personally I LOVE your backyard. I would LOVE LOVE LOVE to live somewhere which is more secluded away from the city. Keep including all of those pictures of Alaska.
That's amazing and like you say - looks cool, just not fun to live and travel in!!
That looks so cold!!! It does make for some beautiful pictures though. How long are you guys planning on living there. We'll be moving out west in 3 1/2-4 1/2 years. So let's plan together where we all end up. :)
cold but beautiful
